Giovanni Pezzoli Pellami Srl
New tanning solutions with low bisphenol content
ABOUT
Specialised in the tanning and finishing of fine leathers, the Giovanni Pezzoli Pellami company operates on a 4.0 certified 5000 square metre production site and manages the entire manufacturing process in-house. The careful selection of skins includes crocodile in its three species - Nile crocodile, American alligator and crocodile porosus - as well as lizard, ostrich, and caiman flanks. The company is a member of the International Crocodilian Farmers Association (ICFA) and is LWG certified, as is its entire supply chain. Its ability to produce leathers with very light thicknesses with important sizes is among its merits.
FOCUS
The company has developed a type of processing that limits the amount of bisphenols contained in the fat liquors in the tanning phase, which are used to give leather splits a whiter appearance, in order to achieve brighter light-coloured dyes and a more supple hand. «After carrying out numerous trials and testing on different types of fat liquors - says Gian Andrea Pezzoli - we managed to obtain a leather that, with the same dyeing performance and hand, has a total of only 250 parts per million of bisphenol F and bisphenol S, well below the current permitted limit of 500 parts per million».
