Italhide
Fine, classic, and exotic leathers for leather goods, footwear, accessories, apparel, and furnishings
The experimenters of fine leathers
Since 1955, the Italhide company has specialized in the scouting of fine, rare, and special leathers to meet the less common needs of specialized manufacturers and High Fashion brands: from classic to exotic leathers, from furry leathers to reptile skins, and even fish leathers.
The company has a strong inclination for scouting out different leather productions, even in the most remote territories, and is devoted to experimenting with new processing techniques like no other tanning company on the market.
«We source hides directly in South America, Asia, Africa and the United States and process them in Italy with the White Line tannery in San Miniato, but we also have partnerships on site with extremely artisanal companies - says Enrico Chiesa. We distribute a smooth-finished, 100 percent aniline baby goat leather entirely produced in Mexico: the hides come from small breeding farms that give all their production to a local tannery, which recovers waste from this local gastronomic tradition. With a Japanese company, we process crocodile skins through a manual dyeing technique used to paint Samurai kimonos. We are also introducing the skin of Pirarucu, a fish that lives in the Amazon River, with a very durable and three-dimensional skin to the European market».
