Historic Arzignano company invests in an environmentally friendly future
ABOUT
Founded in 1965 by Giovanni Bergozza and a partner, Bergi Spa has been dedicated to the design and con- struction of leather processing machinery for nearly 60 years, being recognized as a leading company and among the most innovative and dynamic in its field both domestically and in major foreign markets. The two trademarks Bertech and Bertex, the first with machinery dedicated to the handling of hides through- out the production process, and the second a line of products designed for the processing of bobbin materials, the company has diversified its investments and developed new lines produced in-house, follow- ing the Bergi machinery supply chain to guarantee their quality.

Sixty years in business in 2025 for Bergi Spa: an important milestone that the company has reached by combining innovation and continuous improvement in the construction and design of machines for the tanning industry with interven- tions to reduce environmental impact as marketing manager Leonardo Bergozzaexplains, "In the Arzignano plant we have invested about five hundred thousand euros to reduce our environmental impact by intervening on: lighting, window frames, heating, and rainwater recovery. We replaced gas boilers with heat pumps, created two water collection tanks, and installed a photovoltaic system that will meet about 90 percent of our energy needs. At the Gambellara plant, we have eliminated the use of coal for the forge, made the electrical system moreefficient and redesigned the fume extraction system, as well as purchased a state-of-the-art machine tool. The next goals are to install a photovoltaic system in Gambellara and to obtain ISO 14001 certification to better manage the process of reducing emissions."
