For over 4 decades and 3 generations, the Conceria Orice company has specialised in vegetable-tanned leathers: its mission is to create a high quality and environmentally friendly product. The LWG and ICEC Genuine Vegetable Tanned Leather certification are proof of the company’s values. The range of leathers on offer has evolved over the years: besides the smooth cowhide, unique for its appearance and suppleness, the Orice company has added other tumbled, aniline, and waxed leathers. The company is very active in experimenting with new processes and developing new prototypes with the aim of offering high-performance and sustainable solutions.

FOCUS

With a view to further reducing its environmental impact, the Conceria Orice company has implemented systems to reduce the quantity of sulphites in wastewater. The new system collects the hide hair upstream, preventing it from ending up in the water drains, which would otherwise be contaminated with the chemicals needed to dissolve it. The collected hair does not end up in landfills but is recycled for the production of fertilisers and cosmetics. At the same time, the company is organising itself to ensure complete traceability: each incoming hide is marked, and the client can trace its origin through a code.
