The Leather Kem company operates in the chemical sector of the tanning industry with a young and competent staff to offer innovative services. Equipped with an in-house R&D laboratory, the Castelfranco di Sotto-based company is a partner of ATLAS, a leading US company for fatliquors worldwide, with which it has developed a line of bio-based products, a range of synthetics derived from sustainable and renewable sources for tanning and re-tanning leather, totally free of bisphenols and formaldehyde.

FOCUS

In collaboration with Biodermol Ambiente, the Leather Kem company is launching, the innovative Riviera system called “White Line” in Tuscany. The “White Line” is a new biological process capable of generating an ecological and responsible riviera phase, that of hide depilation. “White Line” is based on a biodegradable enzyme technology, which acts selectively on the hide by catalysing specific reactions without generating polluting reaction products. The new process foresees a reduction of up to 50% of COD and BOD and up to 25% of sulphates in the effluent, guaranteeing advantages on the industrial process. The Leather Kem company, again with the collaboration of Biodermol Ambiente, has invested greatly in this project, setting up a new laboratory capable of developing innovative processes at a semi-industrial level, for the riviera phase, aiming at the total elimination of sodium sulphide, recovery of hair, and liming baths.
