Not just sofas and armchairs: at Milan Design Week 2025, leather reinvents itself in a thousand forms. With a renewed focus on materials with distinctive, long-lasting and characterful textures, this edition of the Fuorisalone promises to be full of ideas and new interpretations. Immersive installations, capsule collections, sculptural furnishings and decorative objects tell the story of the versatility of a material that continues to inspire designers and artisans. Here are some of the most interesting events to discover the uses of leather in interior design, between irreverent experiments and luxury creations with timeless charm.
1. APEIRON: WHERE THE DESIGN MEETS THE TIMELESS ESSENCE OF LEATHER
From 7 to 13 April
Robertaebasta – Via Fiori Chiari 3, Milan
Foglizzo Leather, in collaboration with Angelino Artworks, presents Apeiron: an artistic installation that recalls, in its shape, the circularity of the material that covers it – the innovative Raether. The showroom will also feature the new Domus capsule collection, a celebration of the art of decoration through leather objects inspired by 19th-century botanical studies. A tribute that can also be found in the Leather Wall, a leather work created specifically for the occasion.
2. LARA BOHINC X UNIQKA
From 7 to 13 April
Alcova – Villa Bagatti Valsecchi (Varedo, MB)
Uniqka, an Istanbul-based design brand specializing in leather furnishings, collaborates with designer Lara Bohinc to present the Betsy Collection – a series of furnishings inspired by the natural world. Previewed at Alcova, inside the historic Villa Bagatti Valsecchi, the collection recalls the plumage of birds through overlapping leather scraps, giving life to a refined play of textures and volumes on wooden structures.
3. SENSES BY IAMMI AND MATERIA-STUDIO
From 7 to 13 April
Melzododici – Via Melzo 12, Milan
A multisensory experience that involves sight, smell and hearing. Through an immersive journey, the irreverent furnishings by IAMMI come to life thanks to a play of light and shadow. Among the leather pieces on display, the Frankenstein collection stands out, made with recovered foam and leather patchwork, together with the Un pesce fuor d’acqua pouf, covered in soft lambskin.
4. THE ARTEMEST APARTMENT
from 8 to 13 April, registration required
Palazzo Donizetti — Via Gaetano Donizetti, 48, Milan
One of the most anticipated projects of the Milan Design Week is back: the apartment curated by Artemest, the first online destination for high-end Italian craftsmanship and design. Six international interior design studios will create six rooms, each with a unique vision and attention to detail. Among furnishings, lighting, accessories and works of art signed by over 180 artisans, brands and artists, there will be no shortage of leather pieces.
5. FRAG GOES MATERIC
From 7 to 12 April
Frag Showroom c/o MO.1950 – Via Carducci 38, Milan
Frag is a historic company producing leather and hide furniture: founded in 1921, it is a family business now in its fourth generation, bringing Made in Italy to the forefront at an international level. On the occasion of Milan Design Week, it will present a new proposal that places the material at the centre of design research: fine leather and hide give life to pieces with a sophisticated design, designed to meet the needs of contemporary living.
