Modern Meadow, a pioneer in the field of bio-design, officially presented INNOVERA™, its innovative transformative material
that mimics the look and feel of leather, at the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen.
The result of a process that combines plant-based proteins, biopolymers and recycled rubber, INNOVERA™ (formerly known as BIO-VERA®) is a material that is
completely animal-free, but which reproduces the look and feel of animal skin by mimicking the collagen in which skin is rich. It requires no special preservation or storage conditions and is available in various colours and finishes.
INNOVERA™ is already available for adoption in the fashion, footwear, furniture and automotive industries.
‘By focusing our resources on INNOVERA™, we are positioning ourselves to drive sustainable change and offer the most advanced alternative material to leather available,’ said Dr. Williamson. ‘This focus allows us to scale commercial production more efficiently, deepen industry partnerships and ensure that designers and brands have access to a luxurious, high-performance material that is better for the planet.’
