SVECO: ideas, technical solutions, and sustainability in the service of leather chemistry

For three generations, SVECO has accompanied the evolution of the tanning industry. A company specialized in the marketing of chemical products for leather processing, SVECO was founded on the vision of the Canale family. Thanks to strong partnerships with international manufacturers, it stands out for a comprehensive offering: starting with TANKROM basic chromium sulfate powder and liquid chrome developed in collaboration with the Turkish producer ŞIŞECAM, through a wide range of basic products including ERCROS sodium formate, and extending to a line of biocides based on TCMTB/NOIT.
But the real added value lies in its service model: over 15,000 tons handled every year, in-house logistics, qualified staff, technical consultancy, and a warehouse with 500 tons of liquid chrome storage, always available in heated tanks. “We are not simple distributors; we are a bridge between those who produce chemicals and those who transform leather into high-fashion items,” explain members of the Canale family. This vision translates into a strong commitment to sustainable innovation. In collaboration with the French company SCRD, SVECO promotes synthetic tannins with low bisphenol content and a line of vegetable products obtained from highly renewable raw materials—fruits, leaves, and pods—thus avoiding the cutting down of trees.
Not only traditional extracts, but also specialties based on gambier, sumac, oak, or particular varieties of acacia, offering excellent aesthetic results and superior performance in terms of resistance to light and heat. The goal is to provide customers with high-quality tools and formulations, enabling their leathers to stand out in an increasingly demanding market. This pioneering approach also translates into environmental responsibility: SVECO has launched an LCA study on 20 of its main products and has joined the ZDHC program with its basic products, a concrete sign of its commitment to more transparent chemistry.
