The craftsmanship in Moncler’s Fall/Winter 2026 show proves that there is room for artisanal work in sportswear

Until a few years ago, sportswear was synonymous with technology and performance, certainly not with craftsmanship. Recent collections (such as the one by Balenciaga) have shown that sport is actually a niche that lends itself well to extra-technical workmanship, embracing a new target that wants to combine luxury and performance.

This is the case of Moncler Moncler Grenoble, whose runway show took place in Aspen, Colorado, and was inspired by the Alpine cowboy style of the 1950s.

The show displayed a high level of craftsmanship, from hand-painted mountain landscapes to expertly executed quilting designed to create three-dimensional patterns on padded fabrics, and even hand-embroidered flowers on the collars. All of this, of course, combined with a high level of technical performance.

Is this a new era for the world of sport? Remo Ruffini and Moncler would seem to say yes.
