Sustainable innovation: Jessica Jewels and Italfimet united for the research of new galvanic baths 4.0
Networking is the key to growth: this is the philosophy behind the collaboration between Italfimet, a company that designs and produces galvanic finishes in precious metals, and Jessica Jewels, an expert in the production of accessories and jewelry for high fashion. The two companies, together with O.B.I. Spa and the Department of Chemistry of the University of Florence, have created a temporary consortium to give life to the project GIGA 4.0 - Intelligent Galvanics for Jewelry and Accessories 4.0 - included in the Regional Operational Program FESR 2014 - 2020, which finances research and development projects of MPMIs.
"This opportunity - says Diego Liberatori, partner of Italfimet - allowed us to develop 4 eco-friendly galvanic processes that improve the performance of the processes currently used: cyanide-free copper, nickel-free light gold plating, cyanide-free gold plating and cyanide-free bronze. On the plant side, on the other hand, we designed an intelligent 4.0 system to manage and track the entire electroplating process, including remotely, which allows for real-time data to optimize production."
"The role of Jessica Jewels - says owner Marco Benedetti - was to test on the front line both the 4.0 production system and the new galvanic baths, promoting the optimization of both. For the occasion, we have created an exclusive collection of jewelry and accessories, at the forefront in terms of both structure and design, which will be produced using the innovations developed by Italfimet. It is together that we can really grow and this project is the proof».
