"Carpe Noctem": the fashion show of the best Polimoda students kicked off Pitti Uomo 102

Polimoda returned to celebrate the creative vision of its best students with the "CarpeNoctem" fashion show. Last Monday, June 14th, Polimoda's Final Graduation Show 2022 in fact opened the 102 edition of Pitti Uomo with the prestigious setting of the Giardino Torrigiani serving as a catwalk for the creations of the young designers. A showcase of more than one hundred looks for a total of twenty-four collections and sixteen different nationalities, those of the students involved, which symbolically took place in the place where in 1951 the first collective Made in Italy fashion show was held, thanks to the intuition of Giovanni Battista Giorgini.

The collections expressed the pure talent of the youngsters in an ultra-creative way, with numerous references to major current issues and events dominating the socio-cultural landscape, such as sustainability, international conflicts, diversity and inclusion. Great attention to recycling and upcycling where transforming and giving new life to an existing material or garment becomes a must. From military uniforms and accessories to family linen sheets, 90s bomber jackets to 50s silk slip dresses. So many cues that start from personal experience and the search for a more interior and less shouted fashion. Powerful is the theme of transformation, change, identity and growth. The tale of the transition between what one was and what one wants to become, in a search for one's identity.

In everyone the desire to break patterns, to send different messages, to use fashion as a vehicle and amplifier of values and emotions of one's own identity. A fashion devoid of stereotypes, the highest expression of creative freedom stripped of the fear of judgments or labeling.

Among the materials used, many technical fabrics, on the one hand a trend toward all that is sparkling and reflective, such as sequins, lamé and reflective effects, on the other toward natural and recycled materials. Great use of colors, prints and embroidery, jacquard, under the banner of uniqueness of each collection, mixing menswear, womenswear and genderless garments in the style of the new generations.
