235 Concerie / Tanneries Love of leather for over 50 years Conceria Pegaso is part of the Alba Group, which includes four plants in Ponte a Cappiano (Fucecchio - FI) for a total area of over 12,000 square metres, in addition to the Skirianik complex in Ukraine where, in a 10,000 square metre facility, raw leather is transformed into wet-blue. A group with an artisan heart but an industrial vision, grown with the efforts of three generations of tanners: it all began after the war with Alvaro Banti, who handed down the art of tanning to his sons Massimo, Gabrio, and to his grandchildren. Today the group, with over 100 internal collaborators, produces 1.5 million square metres of leather per year. Large numbers, but also a vast level of customization of the article, strengths that make the Group a unique reality within the Leather District of Santa Croce sull’Arno. Conceria Pegaso, founded in 2003, aims to provide a personalized service to the Luxury footwear and leather goods brands. In a modern and eco-friendly building, Pegaso provides an infinite and innovative proposal of articles. The company’s pride and joy is its wide range of reptile prints, but the company also produces natural grains, geometric prints, waxed articles, vegetable processing, polished leathers, glitter and sequins. Among the latest innovations is the metal-free line where, both in tanning and finishing, heavymetals are replaced by vegetable or synthetic tannins. The result is a high quality and hypoallergenic product that preserves underground water tables and soil from an excessive concentration of heavy metals. Workplace health and eco-sustainability are founding values of the Group, which has been awarded the main Italian certifications and the LWG (The Leather Working Group) certification, which guarantees the environmental performance of the entire supply chain, starting with hides produced in Ukraine from grazing animals. The result is a niche raw material of excellence, which is not normally found on the market.
