.BE YOUR FABRIC proclaims the winning project
Rachele Baratto with her project "Arrakis" is the winner of ".BE YOUR FABRIC", the educational contest promoted by Leather&Luxury and the Bellandi textile company for the fourth-year students of the course in Fashion Design Management at Polimoda. The final act of this course, which lasted about six months, took place last April 5 at Villa Favard, the institute's Florentine headquarters, where the six finalists each presented an outerwear garment from their capsule, entirely designed, developed and then sewn by the students themselves.
The technical jury made up of Caterina Bonini (Leather&Luxury), Costanza Schiavetti (product development manager for Maglificio Denny), Chiara and Martina Bellandi (Bellandi Spa), Leonardo Goti (fabrics responsible for Christian Dior Couture) and Giulia Betti (Ceo and and co-founder of FARMA282) chose Rachele Baratto according to precise evaluation parameters. A victory also confirmed by the preferences expressed in the online survey promoted by Leather&Luxury on its social channels. "Arrakis," is a brand inspired by the imagery of the film "Dune" by Denis Villeneuve. A capsule with a surreal flavor whose garments are like armor with layers that are the result of a "trompe l'œil" technique, optical illusions cleverly obtained through screen printing. The color palette is very restrained with various shades of white and gray as well as black. The winning garment is "Chani," an intriguing women's bomber jacket model that best represents the identity of "Arrakis."
Great satisfaction was expressed by the organizers: "We are very happy with this first edition of ".BE YOUR FABRIC" - says Matteo Rovelli, Resp. Marketing of Leather&Luxury - It was born first of all as an educational project to enhance the young people who, beyond the final outcome, had the unique opportunity to confront themselves with the partner companies of this initiative such as CDC, Lartigianabottoni, Lampo, Piegavelox, Cim Italy and Most. An opportunity for growth for everyone that gives us the enthusiasm to already get to work for the next edition of this beautiful adventure." Now Rachele Baratto is looking forward to an internship at Bellandi Spa and, in addition, she will have the opportunity to exhibit her garment both at the company's showroom and in their booth during upcoming trade fairs.
