Leather on the Grammy's red carpet

The Grammy Awards, the most important ceremony in the world of American music, are a highly anticipated moment not only for showbiz around the world, but also for the fashion industry. The performers invited and awarded at the ceremony collaborate with fashion houses and stylists to create fashion moments that dot both the red carpet and the ceremony itself, with changes of clothes for performances and awards. And among this year's couture dresses there is also room for leather, which between goth interpretations and femme fatale looks was one of the stars of the evening.

MILEY CYRUS IN SAINT LAURENT

Confident and sexy, Miley couldn’t help but choose Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, a designer who has always shown his love for leather both with accessories (during the maison’s latest men’s show, the item that stole the attention were definitely the stiff leather thigh-high boots worn with a suit) and with clothes, including long dresses, skirts and jackets worn in contrast with lingerie.

LADY GAGA IN SAMUEL LEWIS

The singer returns to wearing the dark clothes of her early period for the promo of her new single Abracadabra, and for the red carpet she chooses a custom dress by the stylist Samuel Lewis, who makes her a “mourning jacket” (a Victorian mourning jacket) in leather with leather ribbons. The designer has a predilection for leather, which he uses as the predominant material for his gothic-souled creations that have won over many celebs, from Gaga to Madonna.

CYNTHIA ERIVO IN LOUIS VUITTON

It's not the first time that the Wicked star plays with leather for her red carpets, always in partnership with Louis Vuitton. This time, the actress wore a blue jersey dress with a silver metallic leather bodice, which continues to be a trend this season.

AMUN STARR IN JEAN PAUL GAULTIER

When it comes to corsets, whether in fabric or leather, we can't help but mention Jean Paul Gaultier. The one worn by the American producer (worn over a dress by Gelareh Design) is in woven red leather and represents a great example of how couture and leather can go hand in hand, as also demonstrated by the latest Alta Moda show designed by Ludovic de Saint Sernin for the maison.
