3 ways to use leather that we loved in Gucci by Sabato De Sarno

Sabato De Sarno is officially leaving Gucci after only two years as creative director, in an unhappy period for the group that continues to face major declines in sales. De Sarno had brought to the stage an essential style made mostly of details, which had won over only a portion of consumers. We appreciated him for his simple yet fresh way of using leather, on which he had focused so much for both accessories and ready-to-wear.

THE DOUBLE G WITH EMBOSSED PRINT

The maison's logo, important but always in an elegant way, was a distinctive element for the designer, who wanted to use it in an embossed version on shorts, skirts, and leather mini-dresses. And also to give a more personal interpretation to the classic matelassé, which becomes a pattern with double GG all over.

PATENT LEATHER AS A STAPLE

If patent leather is making an increasing comeback on the catwalks and trends for leather goods, much is definitely due to De Sarno, who since his first collection has used it to make the maison's it bags even more chic. Especially in their “Ancora red” version, the burgundy that has been all the rage this past winter.

ACID COLORS

With its summer collections, De Sarno has shown that even the most basic nappa leather can move away from the concept of “quiet luxury” and become chic and fun. The mini dresses in smooth apple green leather (the brat color par excellence) are yet another demonstration of how leather is a material that lends itself to endless visions.
