The THINK BAG competition has reached its third edition, which from 2021 gives students at Polimoda in Florence the opportunity to create a bag from start to finish and to market it in selected Italian boutiques. Aimed at students of the master's program in Bag Design, the goal of the project is to help young designers express their creativity to the fullest and improve their skills in terms of project development, taking into account certain criteria of fundamental importance, such as sustainability, feasibility, innovative design and functionality.
An important novelty of the 2023 edition is the synergy with the Dunhill brand, belonging to the Richemont Group, the well-known holding company in the luxury world that will actively support this project. The workshop will be held by, Attilio Rebuglio, Head of Leather Goods Design at Dunhill, and Nicola Scarpini, Dunhill Leather Goods Industrial Director; later they will be part of the jury of excellence in the final selection. The winner will be announced on May 8th: up for grabs is a training internship at one of the Richemont Group's brands in addition to the production of ten pieces of the winning item that will go on sale in three high-end stores and whose proceeds will be donated to charity as in past years.
The THINK BAG project consists of the design, production and marketing of a handbag, clutch or backpack. Accompanied by a team of experts, the students will develop prototypes in salpa and leather at the school, with the support of Polimoda professors, the supervision of the company Loipell and the provision of materials and processing from partner companies. Students will have to meet a maximum budget for the production of each piece and its packaging. The quality of the materials will be guaranteed by the partnership with Leather & Luxury, Loipell and the network of prestigious companies that, not only kindly provide their know-how and experience, but raw materials, accessories and workmanship of the highest quality (leathers, fabrics, decorations, digital prints, embroidery and so on) among which we mention:
