Métiers d'Excellence: spotlight on Italian talents
Shine a spotlight on the need to safeguard savoir-faire. The commitment that the Lvmh Group, its Maisons, partner schools and external collaborators place on the intergenerational transmission of all those crafts that represent the lifeblood of the fashion system, of which our country represents the beating heart, made up of traditions and innovations, also goes in this direction. It is no coincidence that Italy is home to six of the Group's iconic maisons (Acqua di Parma, Bulgari, Cova, Fendi, Loro Piana and Pucci), as well as hosting 35 production sites.
An overview of what Italian talents represent in the areas of creation, craftsmanship and customer experience was offered by Lvmh's Show ME event, hosted at the Manifattura Tabacchi in Florence, where Métiers d'Excellence inaugurated a new Italian headquarters. The event offered an opportunity to illustrate the goals and successes of the project in Italy in 2023, which also included the "You and ME" tour, designed to offer candidates (more than 3,000 visitors welcomed at the three stops,) to identify targeted training paths and job opportunities.
Through the Institute of Trades of Excellence, active in Italy since 2017, the Group has trained 730 students. A record 422 Italian students are expected to be trained in the year 2023/24, but the Group's goal is to hire more than 2,500 Italian talents by the end of 2025. Métiers d'Excellence Lvmh aspires to offer a continuous learning program in the areas of Creation, Craftsmanship, and Customer Experience, from middle school to the end of a professional career.
Since 2021, with the "Excellent!" program, Lvmh has presented some of its savoir-faire professions to 1,531 middle school students: a way - at a time when issues of generational transition and labor shortages remain hot - to inform children of the existence of these exceptional professions, changing their perceptions and inspiring new vocations. In Italy, the ME Institute currently offers 26 different training courses with a theoretical/practical format, including six training programs in collaboration with the Group's maisons.
