The soul is British, the style contemporary. The classics remain, but the proportions are transformed to return icons made to evolve by remaining true to themselves. This is the new vision of Burberry according to Daniel Lee. And the fall 2024 pre-collection, rooted in British culture with its iconography and archetypes, tells just that. The brand's codes are there and they speak through iconic models and new silhouettes.
The elegance is relaxed, the approach is functional. The trench coat is presented in a long, beltless version for an over silhouette and is in silk twill, wool, and technical fabrics. Jackets and aviator coats are in shearling, some sleeveless and others reworked as scarves. Wool capes, dresses and herringbone shirts feature wrap-around button-down collars inspired by archival coats. Muted colors sit alongside earth tones and a new take on Burberry Check.
Details caress a punk attitude. Zippers adjust the shape of pleated skirts and replace buttons on double-breasted coats and tailored jackets. Garment-dyed cotton cargo pants feature snap buttons on the sides. The Knight bag is reconstructed as a grained leather miniskirt. Wrap dresses in ruched crepe jersey and velvet are embellished with eyelets or floral cutouts.
Classic shoe styles take on exaggerated proportions: Wedge, the new loafer with a high heel and thick, curved sole; leather Buck with double straps and a rubber sole; Equestrian Stirrup boots, cut at the ankle or above the knee, reimagined for outdoor activities; or Snug with a rubber sole and shearling lining. Faux fur and chain elements decorate the heel of the B Minnie and Slinky strappy sandals, also available as over-the-knee boots in stretch leather.
New among the accessories is the structured Shield Case bag, while the mini Shield Sling bag is revisited with side tassels. The Knight bag and Rocking Horse bag return along with a new suede tote version with leather handles. Also new is the leather Snip clutch, while the Trench tote, inspired by the iconic Burberry pattern, is available in leather or garment-dyed cotton canvas.
