The denim-effect leather of ACNE STUDIOS' boots.

The trompe l'oeil (from the French, literally, trick-the-eye) effect is stunning, and yet it is: the après-ski type boots that Acne Studios presented for this winter season look like denim, but they are leather.

It is printed leather, as explained by Tannery MB3, who had presented us their denim-effect leather range at Lineapelle: the skill lies in replicating the characteristic texture of denim with a photorealistic print that requires multiple steps and fools the eye even from a few inches away.

It had happened before with Bottega Veneta, which on its Fall Winter 2022 runway stunned attendees with a pair of denim-effect leather pants, but for Acne, too, this is not a first with trompe l'oeil leather: already last season it had played a lot on this fun effect, confusing the user with denim products that are actually leather but also vice versa, using denim as a canvas to print accurate representations of leather jackets and bags.
