Bringing new stories to life by bringing in past experiences, and using the experience accumulated over the years. It applies in life as in fashion, and especially in craftsmanship, where the difference lies not only in materials and techniques, but in the human value that each object holds. Miu Miu knows this well, which since 2020 has been pursuing its Upcycling project, mini capsule collections of clothing and accessories that combine product innovation and a commitment to circular design practice, using archival garments to produce new products.
This season the capsule is part of the Holiday collection and includes leather garments, kilts, and sweaters. Leather garments were first introduced into the design with the Fall Winter 2022 season, and this winter they include vintage biker-style jackets, shorts, and miniskirts.
The garments were obtained using floral and flame patterns from the Miu Miu Spring Summer 2011 collection, and decorated with jeweled embroidery from Fall Winter 2024. Each jacket was deconstructed and remodeled, lined in satin with quilted corsets at the bust and finished with a removable shearling collar. The hems of the shorts and skirts are raw, showing the process of cutting.
To seal its ethical commitment, Miu Miu has partnered with Aura Blockchain Consortium, a nonprofit association that promotes transparency and customer-centric business practices-across the lifecycle of luxury products-by making use of blockchain and other technologies so that garments in the collection can be certified.
