A bag made of shoes

Did you know that shoes can also be worn on the shoulder? Emerging brand Avavav, founded by Beate Karlsson and known for its subversive style, has collaborated with Adidas to create a bag made using the iconic Superstar model.
Presented during the last Spring-Summer 2025 fashion show, it is a reinterpretation of the Larva bag, one of the brand's most distinctive pieces: the structure retains the characteristic petal shape, but is constructed by overlapping four Superstar sneaker uppers, arranged on the outer side and decorated with the famous three contrasting stripes. The bag is complemented by smooth leather details, an adjustable handle, a zipper closure with a custom brushed silver zipper pull, and the Avavav logo embossed on the inside.
This upcycling operation perfectly embodies Karlsson's provocative approach. “There is something really funny about fashion trying to imitate sportswear, when our sportswear is not functional at all,” the founder said in an interview. A prime example of this thinking is precisely the laces, left on the uppers but stripped of their original function, turning into a purely aesthetic detail.
