Leather threads for crochet flowers

“Floral for Spring? Groundbreaking,” Miranda Priestly would say. In short, not exactly a masterpiece of creativity. But what if these flowers become true symbols of Italian craftsmanship?

 

This is what happened on the Bottega Veneta runway, where we saw flower bouquets on the runway that on closer inspection turned out to be made of leather.

 

In fact, Matthieu Blazy once again wanted to pay homage to the DNA of the brand famous for weaving, and made bouquets of flowers that were the result of crochet made from leather “threads.”

 

How are these threads made? They are mignons, or strips of leather that are folded back on themselves to form a webbing, or, as in this case, a kind of thread. Which can also be used to make up a knitted weft, as Luca Quirici of David Leather Expressions, who at Lineapelle presented just such a knitting process both totally in leather and in combination with wool, tells us.
