All the numbers of Futurmoda, the Spanish footwear fair
Futurmoda, the trade fair in Alicante, Spain, dedicated to the world of footwear, comes at a time of recovery for the Spanish market, which has returned to positive levels after 18 months of below-zero production rates.
In fact, according to the Spanish National Institute of Statistics (INE), the index of industrial production (Ipi, a short-term indicator that measures the monthly evolution of production activity of industrial branches) of footwear in August 2024 grew by 0.2 percent compared to the same month in 2023 (5 percent higher than in July 2024). In general terms, the annual rate of the industrial production index recorded last July fell by 0.1 percent.
11 thousand square meters of exhibition space inside Fira Alacant with nearly 300 exhibiting companies from all over the world (Spain, Italy, Portugal, France, Turkey, Tunisia and China) that turned the spotlight on the most innovative trends in materials, technologies, sustainability and design for the Fall-Winter 2025/2026 season, with a focus on sustainability, ecological and innovative fabrics and materials. These include biodegradable and recyclable ones made with raw materials from Fsc-certified forests, minimizing the consumption of water and toxic substances. Sustainable solutions in the field of soles and tanning will also be on display, including soles made with biodegradable vegetable oils and chrome-free ecological leathers.
