Can a shoe be 3D printed?

Can a pair of sneakers be 3D printed? More importantly, will they then be comfortable to wear? The answer to both questions is yes judging by the video in which rapper Asap Rocky presents the new 3D Monster resulting from his collaboration with Puma, for which he designed a collab inspired by the world of motors of which precisely this innovative pair of sneakers is a part.

The shoes were made in partnership with the company Carbon, known for also developing the mesh midsole of adidas' Futurecraft 4D. Its polyurethane resin provides incredible flexibility but also great strength that translates into durability, two key features for sneakers.

Unveiled in February during the brand's New York fashion show, the A$AP ROCKY x PUMA Mostro 3.D. are a futuristic version of the brand's iconic model, the Mostro, from which they take the elongated silhouette and spiky sole that here widens to make them almost resemble a fiery dragon. The sneakers are on sale for $250 in a limited edition.
