St. Maurizio box factory: 'Today, aesthetics and sustainability go hand in hand'
“We use only Fsc-certified materials, vegetable glues and mostly water-based inks for our products. In addition, our headquarters is 100 percent autonomous in terms of energy needs, thanks to the photovoltaic system we installed in 2013 and expanded last year.” Attention to the sustainable aspect is also crucial in the packaging sector, a fundamental link in the luxury fashion supply chain: this is also confirmed by Salvatore Liguori, production manager of Scatolificio San Maurizio, a Campania-based company active in the sector since the late 1970s.
“Packaging is now an integral part of product presentation; a sort of business card that brands care about in a special way and that has now become to all intents and purposes an asset in its own right,” Liguori explains. ”This is also why, in addition to a product that is as sustainable as possible, which we ensure through Fsc certification that guarantees the origin of raw materials from forests managed according to the principles of forest management and chain of custody, we are asked for packaging that is as well cared for and valuable as its contents. Ours is always personalized, quality packaging that combines aesthetics and functionality.”
Attention to aesthetics and quality is particularly pronounced in the fashion industry, but not only. This is demonstrated by the items presented by the company during the latest edition of Packaging Première & PCD Milan, an event dedicated to the world of packaging for the luxury and beauty sectors. “At the fair, we presented boxes for perfume, wine and vinegar, and, for the fashion sector, packaging for ties and small leather goods, such as bottom and lid boxes, magnetized, collapsible,” Liguori says. ”It was our first experience and we think it went very well: we had several contacts that we are cultivating.
