Indian couture meets Italian leather goods: Rahul Mishra x Tod's

What happens when Indian couture meets Italian leather goods? A poetic collection characterized by manufacturing excellence, like the one created by Indian designer Rahul Mishra for Tod's.

Four iconic products of the Italian brand: the classic Di Bag bag, the shoulder bag and sabot from the Timeless T line, and the iconic Gommino moccasins, decorated with silk thread and crystals or embroidered with zari thread, a special gold or silver yarn typical of Indian haute couture work. The motifs are the classic ones of Indian iconography, from the tiger to lotus flowers combined with elements of Italian flora.

“Fashion has the power to unite, and I wanted to show that,” Mishra says of her work alongside the artisans from the Marche region, with whom she has established a connection not through words but with her hands. ”What connects us is the love of manual labor and the creation of unique pieces.”

Bringing hand embroidery with its many details to the skin was not easy; in fact, each decoration differs from the other, with small changes that make each item unique. The luxurious embroidery featured in this limited edition not only celebrates the craftsmanship of artisans, but also represents Mishra's social commitment, whose work is committed to providing employment to those who carry on a tradition that has been handed down for generations in India.
