Leather jackets: three treatments for a special garment

That time of year has arrived when the leather jacket once again becomes the undisputed star of the wardrobe. Whether it's for its timeless appeal or its versatility, this garment is simply must-have. But not all leather jackets are the same. With Davide Vallesi of Tannery Chameleon, we explored three special treatments that will make your jacket unique.

WRINKLING
The first treatment is actually a mechanical process that gives the leather a dynamic, three-dimensional look. It starts, in this case, with fine lamb nappa, which undergoes a crumpling process using a special machine that embosses the leather. This treatment is performed while the leather is still whole, before cutting and assembling, and gives a wrinkled effect that enhances the character of the garment.

NUVOLATURA
Nuvolatura is a more elaborate treatment that is carried out in several stages. When the garment is finished, the leather undergoes an abrasion that creates slight irregularities in the texture. Next, the garment is placed in a drum, a kind of large washing machine, where a darker color is distributed randomly over the surface. Once fixed, the result is a “cloudy” effect that makes each garment special-in fact, no jacket can ever be the same as another.

SPALMATURA

Finally, there is the coating treatment, perfect for those who like a worn look but with a touch of originality. For this model, we start with a black leather jacket, on which a layer of white color is applied that covers the entire garment. Next, the jacket is treated in a washing machine equipped with punches that strategically “ruin” the surface, creating an aged effect. Again, manual craftsmanship ensures that each piece is unique and unrepeatable.
