Alaïa's shell jewelry

After a summer in which we saw its mesh ballet flats worn and copied by everyone, Alaïa gives us another knockout item perfect for those who do not resign themselves to saying goodbye to the sea and want to take it with them even in the city. It is the Shell collection of accessories, necklaces and rings made of brass and natural shells, handcrafted in Italy to create objects that are the perfect example of craftsmanship and design.
The shells, from the conidia family, carefully selected to withstand the drilling process, were handcrafted one by one with precision and patience, to avoid the risk of breakage as much as possible. The machinery used, says the Tuscan company Taurini, is a drill press, which through a diamond drill pushed millimeter by millimeter into the shell, cooled through the use of water to prevent the metal from overheating, slowly manages to achieve a clean cut.
The shells are then mounted on brass tubular rings to make a choker necklace and two ring models. Collectibles that perfectly represent the minimal chic essence of the French maison and the savoir faire of the Italian supply chain.
