Placed drilling, the novelty of New Normanno
Printing, weaving, carving, laser engraving: there are many processes that can be done on leather to personalize and make the finished product unique. Solutions that the New Normanno die-cut mill offers. Founded, precisely, making die-cuts for footwear and leather goods, the Aversa (CE)-based company has expanded its product customization solutions over time. Including, for some time now, perforations on piazzato, which have been added to the already large number of services offered for the luxury segment.
“In addition to innovative processes such as digital printing and laser engravings on leather, since 2019 we have also specialized in perforations,” explains Pasquale Anatriello, one of the three founders of New Normanno. ”Shortly before the outbreak of the pandemic, we equipped ourselves with a machine that allows us to make perforations on piazzato: in the pandemic period the novelty remained somewhat muted, but in the post-Covid period the demand started with momentum.
The process makes it possible, starting with a digitally made graphic design, to create perforations on leather with geometric shapes and to make special textures. “Not everyone does this type of operation on the piazzato,” Anatriello explains, ”it is a very targeted work that we do for the footwear sector. You need to manage small proportions: in the small space available you need to be able to capture the customer's attention with impactful and precise solutions.”
“It is a service that we are being asked a lot for because previously it was something we used to achieve with the laser,” he continues, ”but since this is a heat source that can burn and stain the raw material it was not usable in all cases. The new technique, on the other hand, makes it possible to pierce any material, working even on light and delicate skin.” Among other special offerings, the company does UV digital printing on leather, performing any design and, for the past couple of years, embossing as well.
