What's behind Prada's mirror effect accessories?
Sometimes reality is not exactly as we would like it to be. But Prada knows how to transform it: it gives us the illusion of being at a concert... even if we are behind the desk in the office! Among the most fascinating proposals of Milan Fashion Week stand out the bags with a mirror effect, which, however, do not reflect the surroundings. But how are they made? We discussed this with Manuel Fiori of Ta.go.
Prada's new collection has aroused great curiosity, thanks to a theme that defies convention: breaking the patterns of algorithms to give life to something truly unexpected. The mirror technique, already introduced with some sunglasses in the Spring Summer 2025 men's collection, is declined here on the Cleo bag, presented in two dimensions. A model that transports us to a concert even when we are well away from the stage.
The bags combine two distinct materials: a black patent leather is used for the “reflective” part, while the rest of the bag is made of a silver mirror laminated leather. The optical illusion of reflection is created through a digital print on the dial, in this case depicting the audience at a concert, which is then varnished, thus generating the mirrored effect. A trompe-l'œil that deceives and fascinates at the same time.
