Fendi + Mad: “Architectural” bags and sneakers

Fendi's collaboration with architecture studio MAD finally arrives in store and online, including a pair of futuristically shaped sneakers and a special collectible version of the Peekaboo ISeeYou.

Available in two color variants and two sizes, the bag is a jewel of elegance and innovation: made of leather with inserts, handle and swivel closure in painted aluminum, it perfectly reflects the vision of the studio founded by Chinese architect Ma Yansong, characterized by harmonious creations that blend perfectly with nature but at the same time by the surreal and fantastic details that make the beholder dream.

An approach that manifests itself even more clearly in the model of sneakers designed together with Silvia Venturini Fendi, a pair of slip-ons with elastic laces, a wraparound sole and padded upper, available in three colorways.

The collaboration was celebrated with a campaign starring short-track speed skater Lin Xiaojun, and is the latest of many projects celebrating the fashion house's love of architecture, which include both capsule collections (such as the one with Japanese designer Kengo Kuma for the season just ended) and buildings. Indeed, Fendi financed the restoration, led by architect Marco Costanzo, of the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana in Rome, also known as the Colosseo Quadrato, in which it has since installed its headquarters; while it recently inaugurated the brand-new, futuristic Fendi Factory in Bagno a Ripoli, a project by Milan-based studio Piuarch that aims to integrate the building into the beautiful landscape of the Tuscan hills through the play of undulation and mirrors.
